Managing Director/ Chartered Loss Adjuster
John has been actively engaged in the adjustment of large and complex losses in and from the Middle East region for over 30 years. He served as the Regional Director of two major corporately owned adjusting houses in that time but has now, in conjunction with his partners, opened a dedicated technical lines practice where the customer and his clients come first.
Michael van Bergen
Assistant Vice President- Marsh | Energy & Power
Michael joined Marsh and has been specialising in energy insurance claims since September 2010. Having spent three years in London, he relocated to our offices in Dubai (2013) to join the regional Energy Claims Hub, where he continues to provide claims support to Marsh clients located in the Middle East & North Africa region. He has built good working relationships with the energy insurance market and their experts, both in London and the Middle East. He has handled catastrophe losses in excess of USD 200 million for clients and successfully managed the London insurance market following these events.
Khurram Ali Khan
Sr. Executive Director - EFU General Insurance
He Worked with Engro Chemicals in the early part of the career, Joined EFU General Insurance in 1994 and established the first ever “Risk Management Department” in General Insurance industry in Pakistan. The department was mandated to assess the risk exposures of EFU’s clients and rate them on Risk Matrix in terms of Good Risks or Not so Good Risks. With the passage of time moved up in the hierarchy of EFU and at present holding the position of Senior Executive Director, heading the department of Underwriting, Claims, Risk Management and Reinsurance at EFU’s HO. Responsibility includes underwriting and servicing of all major construction projects and corporate customers of EFU. Well-travelled globally and meets global clients, reinsurers and risk managers in Europe, North America, Middle East and Far East. By qualification he is a Mechanical Engineer.
Khurram Nasim Ghuman
Deputy Executive Director - EFU General Insurance Limited
Mr. Khurram is an insurance graduate from one of the renowned insurance schools i.e. ECO College of Insurance, Tehran. He started his career from EFU General Insurance Ltd. in February 1998 as trainee officer and has continued to work for EFU since then. He is currently working as Deputy Executive Director at head office operations and is responsible for the overall underwriting and claims function of special lines of business such as Financial Lines, Liability, Agriculture Insurance, Bancassurance Business and Credit & Surety-Ship. He is a member of the Strategic Committee as well as Underwriting & Reinsurance Committees of the company. Mr. Khurram has achieved various milestones in his 18+ years of career. During his career with EFU he had been selected for various trainings both local as well as international with renowned institutions like Swiss Re, Allianz, IBA and PIM. He was also an active member of the working group that developed Crop & Livestock Insurance schemes in the country for the very first time. Mr. Khurram keeps and believes to maintain knitted relationship with industry peers and is well respected by the executives of the Insurance Industry, including Brokers and Reinsurers. .
Mahmood Ahmed
CEO - Hamid Mukhhtar & Co. (Pvt.) Ltd.
Mr. Mahmood Ahmed is the CEO of Hamid Mukhtar & Co. (Pvt.) Ltd. He is a graduate from the University of Engineering and Technology Lahore, and has a Masters degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Toronto, Canada. Before joining Hamid Mukhtar & Co. in 1988, he has six years of experience in Quality control during Manufacturing, Fabrication and Project Management in two major industries. He specializes in handling large Engineering and property losses including Business Interruption claims especially in the power sector. He is a registered Professional Engineer, a Member of the International Institute of Loss Adjustors (IILA), USA, member International Association of Engineering Insurers (IMIA), and various other international loss adjusting and insurance bodies. Has travelled worldwide to attend various Engineering insurance forums contributed in various Engineering papers and publications.
Uzair Mirza
EVP & Head - Bond & Financial Lines , Jubilee General Insurance Co. Ltd.
Uzair Mirza is currently working as Executive Vice President and Head of Bond & Financial Lines Department at Jubilee General Insurance Company. Joined Jubilee General (formerly NJI) with responsibility of setting up Financial & Professional Lines Portfolio in 2004. He was previously engaged as a Deputy Head Non-Marine Department at Adamjee Insurance from 2000 till October 2004 and prior to that he was an Assistant Executive Engineer in MV Operations Department at KESC from 1992-2000 and started career as an Engineer with Siemens Pakistan in their MV section of Engineering & Software Department immediately after graduation. Apart from his professional experience, he also holds extensive teaching experience as visiting lecturer at KU’s Commerce and Economics Department from 1995 till 2014 and had conducted various Workshops for Graduate Studies Programs at AIOU Karachi from 1995 till 1999 and appeared as Guest Speaker at various private universities and colleges including MAJU & CBM. He also Contributed as independent member from industry on HEC’s board in 2010 for reviewing curriculum for undergraduate programs for commerce students and was an External Advisor and Assessor of Graduating Students’ Final Year Projects NED 1996.
